Joshua Parker

Joshua has been admitted to the hospital today.

Please pray.

His family is not ready to say goodbye.

Joshua has told them that "pretty soon it would be time to go see Jesus."

Their hearts are breaking.

Please pray.

  2. This is a hoax. Joshua's mother, Kate Parker of Grants Pass, Oregon, was arrested this week on charges of medical child abuse!

  4. I was one of those who fell for Kate's incessant sad stories of her children's severe illnesses and suffering. Now it appears that much of that suffering occurred at Kate's own hands. It's reported that Joshua and Bethany are thriving in foster homes - walking, going to school, living normal lives. Topix for Grants Pass, Oregon has a very, very lengthy and informative thread about this extremely disturbing case. How much damage was done to these children - including the siblings who thought that Joshua was dying - is just unfathomable. Along with the damage done to the collective reputations of all the genuinely good, sincere, and dedicated families who have adopted children with special needs from other countries. Just horrific...

  6. I am aware that Kate Parker was arrested and I am aware that Joshua and Hannah and Bethany are safe and thriving. I am choosing to leave this post up for now. Pray for them. They still need it! It is a nightmare.

  7. I have followed Kate's story for many years, and am pleased to call her my friend. If you could know the details of the child we care for, so many of them mirror what Kate has experienced with Joshua. His diagnosis, treatment, near death, and now living a 'normal' life all mirror what has happened with our child. How many of those who are critical have had a child who on more than two occasions has been pronounced by medical professionals as 'near death' - cannot last the night - will not recover from this coma - only to now have a child who 'appears' to be doing well. A child who was on HUGE amounts of narcotics (prescribed and increased by medical professionals), who slept up to 20 hours a day and was in palliative care for three years, and then when medications were changed, became a different child? A child who has been cognitively and emotionally and physically changed by each of these experiences, but who refuses to give up. If all the 'facts' were listed about our child, and there was a medical professional who had not walked through the last 11 years with us, we too could be in prison for 'maltreatment' of our beloved foster child. Unless you have walked in Kate's shoes, please do not judge her.
