Sweet Caroline

See this precious treasure??

This is Sweet Caroline.

If you were following my blog last summer you may remember my sharing about Sweet Caroline.

Her Mama and Papa, the Goodmans, were packing their bags to go get her.

They were close.  So very close.

Their dossier had been submitted and all they needed was a travel date to go get their little one.

AND WE WERE PRAYING HARD FOR THEM BECAUSE THE WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY TO GET HER WAS CLOSING FAST...

THE SPECIAL NEEDS LIST WAS CHANGING AND SWEET CAROLINE WAS NOT ON THE NEW LIST...

They were so close... just days from triumph.

All they needed was a travel date.

But then the door slammed shut.

The rules in that country changed and Caroline was no longer on the 'special needs' list despite having a serious heart condition.

That meant that Caroline would not be available for adoption until she was five years old.

THE GOODMANS CRIED OUT IN GRIEF AND SORROW AND WE CRIED WITH THEM.

To think of this sweet babe growing up in an orphanage...

Waiting for three more years to finally be in the arms of parents who deeply loved her.

It was more than they could bear.  They shut down their blog and walked away from their babe in despair.  There were just no words to offer them.

All we could do was just keep whispering prayers that the door would open back up.

Another RR family had the privilege of seeing Caroline last fall.  She was peaking in to see what having a Mama was all about...

AND WHEN THEY NOTICED HER... SHE GAVE THEM THE MOST PRECIOUS SMILE...

And then proceeded to shoot them!!!

I cried when I saw their  babe... And grieved again at the little orphan girl whose parents were on the wrong side of the ocean.

How do you offer words of comfort to a family when their little one is so far away?

You wait on the Lord.

You just wait on the Lord.

....and He will give you the desires of your heart....

Just about two months ago I received the most precious e-mail from the Goodmans....

The special needs list had been changed AND CAROLINE WAS BACK ON THE LIST!

SHE WAS AGAIN AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

They didn't want to make it public on their blog.  The sorrow of last year was too intense and blogging seemed risky.

So they quietly shared... whispered prayers.. sent their paperwork back across the ocean... packed their bags...

And waited...

Frustratingly enough - the process has slowed down to a snail's pace and they are pacing the floors.

Praying.  Waiting. Praying some more.

Will you pray with them?  Pray that the doors will fling open and they will finally be able to cross that ocean and bring their DAUGHTER home?

I SERIOUSLY CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS PRECIOUS TREASURE IN THEIR ARMS.

It has been far too long for Sweet Caroline.

PLEASE PRAY.

  3. That look on her face! She knows she's missing something, she may not know what having a mom and dad is but the longing to be loved and accepted is still there. I will pray for this family.

  16. Just last night I was looking through my blogroll and the blogs I have not seen posting in a while... I saw the Goodman's blog and wondered what was happening with them. Thanks for the update.
Thank you Jesus for this precious treasure, hold her and carry her to her parents. I ask for amazing peace and comfort during this time of waiting, may you be a clear and ever present hope in the waiting. We know ALL is for your glory and we Glory in the waiting for you have sent our Comforter to call out Abba while we sometimes cannot. I look forward to seeing what story you have written for the Goodmans and Sweet Caroline...

  17. We are in the same boat, so close to going to get our Jeremy, and "the list" changed everything. We struggle with holding faith that when Jeremy is old enough we will be able to pursue him. For now we struggle with the amount of finances we faithfully put on the line. People said don't put all your eggs in one basket, but how can you not when you love a child so much.
