Pity Party

I wanted to have a pity party.

We were hit this week with a car that needed MAJOR repair AND a van that broke on the way home from getting the car out of the shop.

I barely got the van home.

I inched my way up and down the hills as the transmission slowly ran out of steam.

The little van that didn't.

I wanted a pity party because we just lost a bunch of money getting that van fixed.

All for nothing.

It is totally dead and way too old and worn down to fix anymore.

I wanted to have a pity party because yesterday we had to drop a boatload of money we didn't have on a new/used van that we weren't planning on buying.

I wanted to have a pity party last night because Ben was bringing his NEWLY REPAIRED car home from work when it stopped working at a stop sign.

Yes it did.

We lay in bed last night in shock.

Two vehicles down the tubes in two days.

This morning I seriously want to call for the violins to play my pity party music.  I am looking for my sackcloth and ashes.  I am trying to find some pillows so I can drop down on the floor and have a total all-out fit (I don't want to get hurt).

I want to weep and wail.

We have a Shriners appointment on Monday to get Aaron's casts off (Praise the Lord) plus we are swinging by iDupont to get his WREX which needed repair - we are doing the trip in ONE day so we are both going to drive.  Then I leave for Ohio on Thursday for a Homeschooling Convention.

We are minus a car for Ben to drive.

We are seriously in a mind-numbing lurch.

I want to rant and rave and call up the service station who FIXED the car and tell them a few words that would not be edifying.

I want to stomp and fuss.

Today is Rob's Birthday.  Tomorrow is Elijah's birthday.

Tomorrow is also Easter.

I am so not prepared on any level for any of these events.

I want to go back to bed and start over.

I deserve a pity party.

I want to throw one.

But I can't.

I can't sit here and feel sorry for myself even though I think I well deserve it.

I can't because I saw these words yesterday...

Please share. 65 days to find his family.

And then I saw this picture:

And I am completely and totally ashamed.

Oh Casey.

65 days.

NO NO NO!!

SIXTY FIVE DAYS AND HE LOSES HIS CHANCE OF EVER HAVING A FAMILY!

65 days!

My pity party goes out the window.

CASEY.

He is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD.

LOOK AT HIM!!

LOOK AT HIM!

He has NOTHING To call his own.

Every piece of clothing on his body is shared clothing.

He has never had a toy of his own.  A book of his own.  A stuffed animal of his own.

He has never had a Mama of his own.

Or a Papa.

I want a pity party because we are paying out money we don't have but this boy...

This little boy..

He has NOTHING.

And to top it all off...

He faces a lifetime in a mental institute if someone doesn't step up and claim him in 65 days.

He has Cerebral Palsy.

He has a skin condition.

He has mental delay.

He is 15 years old.

Can we please have pity on Casey?

Can we yell and scream and cry out for a little boy who has only 65 more days left to escape the life he is currently living???

CAN WE PLEASE YELL FOR CASEY!

I knew he was aging out but I didn't know he only had 65 days.

65 days.

Actually today makes 64.

Dear Friends...

CASEY NEEDS TO BE SEEN.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET CASEY SEEN!!

If you want to see more pictures of Casey from someone who has SEEN him and KNOWS the world in which he lives - Click HERE and HERE.

PLEASE SHARE CASEY!!

PLEASE HAVE PITY ON HIM!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

PLEASE!!

I'll stop my pity party if you agree to help Casey!!

PLEASE!!

  1. This so touched my heart...I am 73 years old and have had a great family life. My heart breaks for all these children who have never had that chance. They desperately need a family to show them love..God has a plan for each of them, but He needs our help in finding that loving home."There but for the grace of God, go I" and you. Pray for these children

  2. I felt so bad for you after reading about your car troubles. And then so happy that sweet Aaron is finally close to being free of his casts. And then I felt really sorry for Casey, and astonished to hear Simon got no donations yesterday after being "child of the day". I watched his video and it broke my heart, but I had no money left :( I did spread the word for "your" children, and hope some help will be on the way soon. Again, thank you for your awesome work. Don't lose faith, I'm sure there are lots of people out there just getting ready to help these angels!

  5. It's not only Casey...there's a newly listed boy, "Joseph," and he only has 26 DAYS for someone to file a petition to adopt him! Please Julia would you signal boost him too? I am so scared for him. :(

  8. Two days ago, as I was filling Easter eggs with candy, an idea popped into my head. I decided to put a $5 donation note in five eggs for each of my kids so they could each pick a child to donate to. This helped make the Easter baskets not all about candy and them. If you do a giveaway next year before Easter, you might want to include that as an idea for the Easter baskets. I was really happy to find a way to make our Easter baskets about giving and not just receiving. My kids picked Jack and Jenson, Porter, Barton, Sutter, and Alexei and donated $5 to each of them.

  10. Julia,
I did contact Reese's Rainbow. A family does not have to be homestudy approved. Only the I-600A must be submitted before Casey's 16th birthday in June, and the homestudy can be submitted later. However, my husband and I would not qualify for Casey because we are not 15 years older than him...a requirement in Ukraine (we are 26 and 27.). Praying that God will move mountains! We are discerning God's call on our lives in regards to the countless other orphans in need of a family. -Kristie Du Sablon
