It's Real

I think my blogpost yesterday stunned a lot of people and many questions were asked.

Some wondered if my facts were correct.

Let me be clear.

What I posted yesterday was TRUE, REAL and HORRIFIC.

New rules for U are now in place beginning in April.  Any child who is over 10 with a certain diagnosis is required to have a sputum test for TB.  This test is being done REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY HAVE A NEGATIVE TB TEST OR NEGATIVE CHEST X-RAY.  Olga tested negative for TB.  Yet she was still required to do the sputum test.

It takes 8-10 weeks for the results of this test to be read.

The child cannot leave the country until the results are read.

The Binkleys had NO IDEA that they were going to be required to do this test.  Everyone was blindsided.  They are the FIRST family to have hit this mountain but they will not be the last.

I asked yesterday for financial support for this family.   I am asking again.   Please give.  The Binkley's were expecting to be home today. They were expecting to be showing Olga her new room and her new sister and brothers.  They were not expecting to be in this crazy situation.  They were not prepared financially or emotionally.  Sam is currently on his way across the ocean and will be staying the duration.  He is taking a leave of absence from his work.  Michelle will be leaving her new daughter on Wednesday to care for the other children.   I can't imagine how ripped around their hearts are right now.

Those who gave yesterday  THANK YOU!  If you didn't give... PLEASE DO.  The need is GREAT.   Around $1,000.00 came in yesterday.  That is AWESOME and I know they are beyond grateful but the reality.... it doesn't cover Sam's plane ticket much less provide them with food, housing etc for the next 8 weeks.  We need to dig deep for this family.

Their blog is HERE and their password is "weseven."

To support them you can donate HERE or HERE.

MOST OF ALL... PLEASE PRAY.

Pray that changes can be made so that no other family has to live this nightmare.  Pray that voices raised will be heard.  Pray for the Binkleys.  Pray for Olga.  Pray for all those children who will be deeply affected if rules aren't changed.

It really is real.

  1. Julia do you know who we can contact with our government regarding changing this rule or at very least allowing this family to bring their daughter home as they weren't informed of this beforehand? This is ridiculous, and I have nothing to offer them financially as I'm living on gift cards right now, but I can certainly be a loud voice in the ear of someone who might be able to fix this!

  2. Contact your congressman and senator, and also file a complaint here: http://www.ada.gov/aids/ada_aids_complaints.htm as this is an clear situation of discrimination and a gross violation of human rights. (hope this link posts)
