He's Come So Far

What a difference...

What a difference two years makes in the life of one little boy.

In Aaron's first week home two years ago we took him to a yearly event in our county - Old Farm Day.

He was scared and overwhelmed that day.  He walked around in a daze and we spent the few hours there trailing behind him, trying to point out to him things that he would enjoy seeing.  He didn't want us to touch him or hold him.

A few things brought his dimples out but most of the day he walked in a fog.

He was recognized by numerous people who had followed our blog and prayed him home but he had no interest in greetings or niceties.  He was a scared little guy in the midst of a foreign country.

We left after a few hours when he began to melt down.

We went back to Old Farm Day on Saturday.

What a difference....

What a difference two years makes in the life of one little boy.

He was still a man on a mission.  He still wanted to lead the pack and had little time for anyone else's agenda but his own.

We still spent the few hours we were there trailing behind him, trying to point out to him things that he would enjoy seeing.

But this time he was willing to stop and play.

He was happy to be held.

He didn't mind sitting on Mama's lap while he waited patient, patient for Papa to catch up.

He happily greeted people and chatted away with friends from school who happened into his path.

Fear was no longer driving him.

He has come so far in two years.

He still has a long road ahead of him as he continues to heal and grow.

But two years home makes a big difference.
