Sheds and Cages

Sometimes there are no words.

We spent six weeks staring at sheds and enclosures.

Not sheds with tools inside.  Not sheds for tractors or farm equipment.  Not storage sheds or dog sheds.

We spent six weeks staring at sheds that contained boys.

Moaning, groaning, miserable boys.

Eating sheds.

Containment sheds.

Cages.

Yes this is a cage.  The boy in the back of the gazebo was a runner and tended towards violence  so they would put him inside the 'cage' and put a 'guard' at the entrance.  The two of them sat there all day.  One watching.  One waiting.

From where we often sat and played with Aaron we could look down the path and see one of the sheds.  The door of the shed blocked by a bench so that the boys couldn't get out.  Aaron ran free while the boys inside sat and stared at the walls and listened to his laughter.

Sometimes there are no words.

Those sheds render me speechless.

I often wonder if people think I may be over sensationalizing the shed story.  Maybe I exaggerate.  Maybe I am playing the card too much.

I have no pictures to prove that the boys were inside the sheds.  I was not brave enough to point my camera when the boys were inside.

Where is my proof?

How can I convey to you the sorrow inside those walls?

Sometimes there are no words.

Sometimes the reality is more than I can bear.

Sometimes I have to look away because I can't stand what I see.

The following pictures are NOT from Aaron's institute.

But they are from the same country.

They are the grown-up version of Aaron's institute.

THIS IS THE FUTURE THAT FACES THE LOST BOYS.

GROWN UP SHEDS.  Grown up men sitting and doing nothing all day inside the sheds.

GROWN UP CAGES.

Sometimes there are NO words.

The boys who sit inside the sheds and cages at Aaron's institute will eventually graduate to sit inside these sheds and cages.

Those who are prone to run or violence will be placed inside the cage.

DO YOU SEE?  DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY MY HEART IS BROKEN?

All the babes we are yelling for will eventually grow up.

THIS WAS THE LIFE AARON WAS DESTINED TO LIVE APART FROM THE GRACE OF GOD!!

This is what these children face...

Those who can walk or sit in a wheelchair will sit in sheds and cages.  Those who can't will just continue to live out their days laying in their cribs or beds.

SHEDS, CAGES, BEDS AND CRIBS.

Come Quickly Lord Jesus!

Want to bless the men in those cages?  My dear blogging friend Natalie was the one who took those pictures.  She is currently ministering to a nearby mental institute for children but is able to visit these men too.  She has discovered that they LOVE apples.  Simple pleasures.  She has been buying apples and taking them to the men and they are beyond grateful for such a simple gift.  The mental institute sits on a large piece of property and after asking around, Natalie has gained permission to have 200 apple trees planted on the grounds.  Each apple tree costs between five and ten dollars.

Want to sponsor an apple tree?  I'm making it super easy for you.  No it isn't tax deductible.  I don't think the men care about that.  But make a donation to the chip-in so Natalie can get the trees planted as soon as possible.  It will take a few years for the apples to produce but the long-term benefit to that institute is well worth the wait.   200 apple trees for some desperately lonely men.

Reece's Rainbow is now in 2nd place in the Cultivate Wines Contest.  If we maintain that position  these sweet kids will each receive $1,000 in their grant account instead of $5,000.00.  One thousand dollars is nothing to sneeze out and I will be grateful for even that much for each child but honestly....  I  would much rather see each of them blessed with the full $5,000.00.

Please...
