The Eagle Project!

Yesterday was an important day for my sweet and funny Elijah.

He's been in Boy Scouts since he was six years old.

He's had one goal since he was eight years old.

He wanted to be an Eagle Scout.

Yesterday he took a BIG step toward that goal.

His project involved moving seven massive benches to different parts of the Heritage Trail in our county and setting them in the ground.  The moving of the benches happened a few weeks ago when I was in North Carolina.   The setting of the benches took place yesterday.

My bit part in the project was feeding the troops.

Aaron and I set up and then waited for the workers to come to the table!

 Feeding the troops...

You can't go wrong with pizza, chips and cookies!!

Since the benches were quite a distance from each other and along a trail that is quite rugged at spots (not wheelchair friendly) - I was only able to get pictures of the setting of the last two benches.  They were the only two which were next to each other.

Elijah being a true scout!!

It was an all-day affair with a few mishaps including lost members, broken augers, a shoe in the river, a wet/destroyed cell phone (from rescuing the shoe out of the river) and snakes.

But the weather was BEAUTIFUL and the workers were amazing!!

It took three MEN to left those benches!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO THE BEST DAD A BOY COULD HAVE!!

Finishing the LAST BENCH!

A bunch of tired boys and men!  These are the mighty warriors who stayed till the end!

The benches still need to be trimmed and of course Elijah has to do the mountain of paperwork and meetings before he can finally earn the title but yesterday brought him much closer to his goal!

I'M PROUD OF MY SOON-TO BE EAGLE!!

  2. What a great project! How did he choose it?
How is Aaron doing with the knee bending? I've been praying for him to MOVE that knee. :)

  3. Congratulations, Elijah! We have several Eagle Scouts in our family and they've grown to be fine God-honoring, family- and community-loving MEN! Thanking God for all you are learning about leadership, planning and perseverance. Proud of you.
