It was a long long wait.
In the fall of 2023 he obtained his official license to drive but then he had to wait.
He waited through the winter, the spring, the summer and into the fall.
He waited and watched as his brother obtained his right to drive.
He waited through the jealousy, the frustration, the depression.
He waited and hoped that finally his turn would come.
And it did. In November he finally finally obtained his right to drive.
And for six weeks he's been driving.
Not independently, but driving. Gaining confidence, experience.
The system in his car is complex, but he is mastering it well.
It was a long wait and he's glad it is finally over.
Except today he is turning his keys in.
His last drive for a long time will be to the hospital.
Today he is having reconstructive surgery on both his feet.
Currently he stands pitched forward - on the front part of his feet and it's exhausting.
And painful.
This surgery will hopefully ease some of his pain and posture issues.
When surgery is done and the casts are removed after 8 long weeks of waiting, he should be able to stand flat footed.
He's getting both feet done at the same time.
No walking.
No bearing weight.
No driving.
For 8 long weeks.
It's always such a blessing to hear from you! Love hearing about the kids, who have grown so much over the years! Heavenly Father, please surround Aaron and his family with your love and care today as he goes through this surgery. Pour out your tender mercies as he recovers and give him patience to endure. All glory to you for his life's story, Lord! We ask in Jesus' name, Amen!
