Not Measly

Okay - I have to confess.  I titled my last blog "Five Measly Dollars" out of pure ignorance.  When Andrea asked me to advocate for Jonah and I saw that this dear sweet little guy whom I am going to shout for only had 5.00 dollars in his account - I groaned.  I did.  I thought - poor pitiful Jonah only has 5.00 in his account.  Poor child.  It just seemed hopeless.  Since I get super-overwhelmed at how I will ever raise big money - I hesitated before jumping in.

What I didn't know is that the 5.00 was given by an 8 year old little girl.

An 8 year old little girl who fell in love with Jonah when he first appeared on the Reece's Rainbow sight and who has been praying for him EVERY SINGLE NIGHT SINCE THEN.

Every single night.

When she was given money at Christmas - she gave it to Jonah.
When I heard that news I knew that God was going to do something amazing for Jonah.

You don't mess around when a little one is storming heaven.  God hears those prayers.

Those Five Little Dollars from that little girl - those nightly prayers...

I am beyond thrilled to be part of this glorious story!
So join in people.  One little girl gave 5.00 in faith.  Do you have 5.00 you can give in faith?  How about more?  We have a puzzle that someone is donating.  I do believe I want to try to fill that puzzle with names.  The first name to go right smack in the center will be the name of a little girl with a faith that is going to move a mountain.   Every single 5.00 donation adds another name onto our puzzle.  Buy puzzle pieces for your family, your children, your parents, your relatives.  Let's Love Jonah Home with our donations and let's join our prayers with the prayers of one little prayer warrior who has diligently lifted Jonah to the throne every single night since she first saw his picture that God would send him a family.

Those first Five Dollars are NOT MEASLY.

I apologize for scoffing at such a precious gift.

They were five dollars donated in love and faith that God would take a tiny offering and multiply it so that one little boy would be able to come home.

The God I serve knows all about taking tiny little offerings from a child and making something BIG out of it.

John 6:5-13
When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?”
He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!
Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up,
Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there).
Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”
So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.

Mark 10: 13-16
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

  1. A certain inspirational email I received about ONLY 7 MINUTES is ringing in my ears! Love you, Julia, and love your sweet heart. I am in tears and off to donate, knowing my gift is unlikely to be so sweet to our Father as those $5 from a tender heart.

  2. What a beautiful story -- and this is only the beginning! Like the widows two mites, this little girl's gift will move many hearts to give gifts large and small. Only heaven will reveal the results of her gift. It is so amazing how God works. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story as it unfolds!

  5. I'm sure that no one thought you were "scoffing" at the selfless gift of a child. If anything we felt humbled and ashamed that no one else, adults like us with jobs and bank accounts had contributed anything.

  6. Is there any news on Masha? Was she transferred with Eddie? I can't get either of them out of my mind...

  7. I think we all knew what you meant by the "5 measly dollars"! The fact that you do so much to advocate for these kids speaks volumes!! I am adding my $5 for my son, Kellan.

  9. If a small child can donate $5.00, which must be a princly sum to her, than surely we, the hands and feet of Christ can do the same. We donated $25 for each of our kids Matthew and Caley.
