April 15 - Ipad - Kindle - Gift Cards - HUH??

Okay - I am fighting exhaustion right now.

My trip to Ohio was GREAT!

BiblioPlan did wonderful  - we talked to lots of families, had good sales and made lots of new contacts!!

Woo Hoo!!

By the way - if you use Mystery of History or Story of the World or the History of US books - YOU CAN STILL USE BIBLIOPLAN!!

We have  those books incorporated into our program.

You can also just use our fabulously wonderful Companions too!!

It is a wonderfully versatile history and literature and art and geography and writing curriculum that allows you to pick and choose all kinds of great options.

Okay... Sorry for that commercial.... back to my blog....

I met a number of Reece's Rainbow supporters and babes and families in Ohio.

I also had a few Micah Six Eight stalkers who read this crazy blog and NEVER EVER comment on it!!  I LOVED meeting you guys and wished you had stayed longer.  Sara - we tried to call you when the Unroes showed up but you didn't  answer your phone... just saying... And Tracy and Mom  - THANK YOU FOR THE CHOCOLATE AND GIFT CARD!!  You made my day!!

I also had a great time getting lost in Cincinnati with a newfound RR friend!

No GPS.  No map.  No idea where we were.

What did people do before we had cell phones??

Thank you Jamie for bailing us out!!

Yes - I am tired.

I came home to a little boy who is struggling with his cast-less legs.

Removing the casts did not mean that Aaron was immediately able to walk.

He has pins in his knees and right now the slightest bend of those knees puts him into orbit.  Having him cry at every turn is putting us into orbit.  This is NOT fun right now.  We have been told that it will take weeks before he can walk again pain free.

It hurts this Mama's heart to see her littlest struggling.

In the midst of our crazy we are doing this STEW!

I knew it would be hard to fit it in at this time in our lives but God has been FAITHFUL to us.

I have been OVERWHELMED with the outpouring of love from so many of you as we have been doing this Giveaway.

I look at how much we have raised right now and I get tears in my eyes.

The private e-mails and comments from so many of you whose hearts are being opened towards adoption makes all the headaches of juggling stews and trips and hurting little boys worth it.

I know the families are being blessed.

I know how powerful it is to get the waiting babes SEEN!!

THANK YOU!!

Thank you for giving so freely to so many!!

Thank you for sharing and caring!!

Yesterday I was asked if I would possibly extend the STEW GIVEAWAY until April 15th for those who get paid on that day and also for those people like us who wait until the last moment to do their taxes.

I thought that was a rather brilliant idea because I do not want to close out anyone from being able to give so this Giveaway is going to be extended two more days.

It ends next Monday at midnight.

TAX DAY!

So when you find out how much you are getting back in taxes.... consider dropping a portion of that in a few buckets!!!

Seriously.... your chances of winning something are HUGE!

I will announce final results and winners on Wednesday!

In the meantime....

Yesterday I was mourning the fact that Porter, Hanson and the Marr family did not have matching grants....

WELL....

THE MARRS HAVE A SECRET I CAN'T SHARE RIGHT NOW

WOO HOO... I don't have any more details than that but PRAISE GOD PRAISE GOD!!

PLUS...

Porter and Hanson each have a $250.00 matching grant!

PLUS... The Collins have a $250.00 matching grant!!!

WOO HOO....

That means we currently have SIX matching grants on the table..

The Collins need $250 to meet their match
Hanson needs $250 to meet his match
Porter needs $250 to meet his match
The Taylors still need $38 to meet their match
Frank still needs $45 to meet his match
Darren still needs $1683 to receive his FULL $2,000 matching grant!

I've been informed that Darren is going to be transferred SOON out of his babyhouse and into an adult mental institute!!!  Oh People PLEASE.... Please!!!

WHERE IS DARREN'S MAMA???

  1. My daughter Kira Rideout shared $10 with the Taylor family and $10 with Simon. Thanks for continuing to shout for these kids, and giving my kids chances to let God teach them to have giving hearts. She doesn't even realize she is being entered into the giveaway. =)

  6. Hi Julia!

I'm one of those "lurkers" that doesn't comment very often.

I know you've got your hands full with this giveaway, but I just found a really desperate situation when I was looking at the newly listed children a day or so ago:

    http://reecesrainbow.org/57191/sebastian

Sebastian has LESS THAN 2 WEEKS before he ages out on APRIL 25! There is a very nice write-up on his profile -- do you think you could spare a few lines to shout for him?

    Thanks!

    Kathy

    P. S. Pam, at http://savinghissparrows.blogspot.com/, is my oldest daughter. She's the one who introduced me to RR a couple of years ago. I'm sending her a note about this, too.

  7. On another note -- could you, sometime, explain just what "fully funded" means? When I read through the "fine print" on "how to adopt" on the RR site, it looks like there are a lot of "up front" costs that are not covered by child adoption grants.

So, all that money in Heath's account (for example), the money that makes him "fully funded" -- if it's not available to his family until they are close to the end of their adoption journey, what happens to it? If the TOTAL cost is roughly $25.000, INCLUDING all the "up front" costs . . . ??

This is something I've wondered about, and I suspect it's something others have wondered about, too. I would find it helpful if you could enlarge on this in some future post.

    Thanks!

    Kathy

    1. Fully Funded means they have all they need on the international end of things. Most of the time fully funded for a country like Heath's would be 20,000.00. That money would cover everything except for the homestudy and other U.S. costs. Heath was over funded which means that the family adopting him should get back just about everything they put into it.

    2. Thanks for explaining this, Julia. It makes sense now.
