Loving Aaron

He's a boy. A climbing, active, energetic, sensory-seeking boy. When I was there he was being confined inside a building with 24 other boys. He was never let out. His only place to run was up and down the barren halls.

He was a whirling dervish. Confined to one building 24/7 without anyone ever letting him go free, he was unable to contain his energy when we stepped into the building. It was the only relief he ever had from the utter monotony of his life. He wanted attention so badly it was heartbreaking. He couldn't stop. He was like a wind up toy out of control.

He's desperately in need of a Mama who has the energy and time and love to run with him in the fields.  To let him climb and swim and get dirty. To allow him to dig and build and break apart what he has built.

He was confined to the isolation building when I was there but soon after I left they moved him. He was too hard to contain inside the building so they moved him out with the other boys.

Little boys are not meant to be caged all day every day.

They pick on him inside the cage. He's not liked by the more aggressive boys and they bully him.  To escape he sleeps.  A lot.  It's the only escape he has from the agony of his life.

He looked battered and bruised when I saw him.  I'm sure many of his bruises were self-inflicted. What else does he have to do every day? Where he is now living, I'm sure that many of his bruises are the result of being constantly picked on.

He's not a cute snuggly little boy. He's older and wilder and non-verbal and full of energy. He's needy. He's oh, so needy.  He has ONE CHANCE of ever breaking free.  A family. A family willing to look past the filth and bruises and wild behavior and see the little boy inside. A family willing to throw caution to the wind to rescue a little boy who needs rescuing more than words can say.

Someone please SEE Aaron.

See him.

We have a $1,000 matching grant for Aaron. He had only $45.00 in his grant account when we started. He now has 626.50. To each of you who have given to this little lost boy who lives in a world of need and neglect - Thank You. I really really want Aaron to meet his matching grant.  It would mean over $2,000.00 in his grant account. It's a good start for a family wanting to adopt him. It tells them he's a loved little boy. He's worthy. He's a treasure.  Please help me get his matching grant met. He needs $418.50 to match it. Every $10.00 helps.

Love Aaron with me.

Also...

Please, please keep praying for Aliyah who is still in the hospital. I wrote about her in my Friday Families Post.  They are still struggling to figure out why their happy, giggling little girl is now staring, crying and non-responsive.  Please please pray for the Steinhoffs.  They leave in just a matter of days to go get Harley. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors. Pray for Aliyah (Grace on RR).

I know that I say thank you often on this blog but I truly mean it. Each gift given this past weekend to the families in process and to the boys mean so very much.  We now have $998.50 left to raise to meet the matching for Ben, Isaiahu and Aaron. THAT IS SO AMAZING!!

We have until November 30th so help me, help me get the grants matched!

Living, Breathing Children

I know I am trying my hardest to get the final matching grants met for the three boys.  I know we still have $1,106.50 to raise for them. I know. I have them linked at the bottom of this post so that you can see what they still need. The matching grants end on November 30th. I know with all of my heart that they are important!

But there are families who are in process who desperately need prayers, encouragement and financial support.  These families are all close to travel. Some are in hard hard circumstances. Some leave in a matter of days.  They need our support. Whether by prayer or by financial support. They need us to stand beside them.

A few weeks ago a little wee one, Heavenleigh, who had a family moving mountains to get her died before they could get to her. She was five years old and weighed 10 lbs. Her family is grieving deeply that they weren't able to bring her home.

Another wee one from that very same place came home a few weeks ago at age 7 weighing 10 lbs. After examining him, the doctors basically said that his condition was pure and simple gross neglect. Starvation. Malnutrition.  Abuse. There is no medical reason he should be that age and weigh so little. He is home now and slowly slowly being restored to life.

And then there is Hope. Another wee one from that same place of abuse and neglect.  Her family is racing to get there in December to bring her home. Yes, they are short on funds.  They could use help. Most importantly they could use the prayers of the saints. Prayers that Hope would survive until they come. Please please pray for Hope.  Pray for this wee one who is hanging onto life by a thread. She is almost 8 years old and weighs 10 lbs. If you want to support the Horton family - they are selling really nice  TO HAVE HOPE shirts that would make a great Christmas present for someone. You can also donate directly to their grant account HERE.

A few days ago this picture showed up in my Facebook feed. I laughed out loud when I read how this newly sprung babe refused to cooperate during portrait taking time.

She's one of two treasures that her family went to adopt.  The other treasure is still in country waiting because she needed a TB culture done that takes 8 weeks. The day after this sweet picture was taken, Aliyah (Grace on RR) was rushed to the hospital. She's still there and they have no idea what is wrong.

Oh please pray for this sweet baby!! Pray that the doctors would be able to figure out what is going on in her little body! Please!

To make it even harder on the family... they still need to go back across the ocean to bring Gabriella (Harley on RR) home. I can tell you from experience that hospitals have a way of draining your pocketbook.

I know the Steinhoff would greatly appreciate prayers being lifted up for both of their little girls. The one who is dangerously ill in the hospital and the other who is waiting for them to come back and bring her home. And in case you think that Harley is just a baby... She is 15 years old.  It broke their hearts to have to pass court and then leave her to come home for eight weeks. So please please pray for this family.  They are in the hardest of places and could use all the support they can get.  People can still donate to their grant account since Harley is still in country. The link is HERE

One of our Fabulous Five!!! Toby's family is going to meet him on THANKSGIVING DAY! That is next week. I am carrying a entire tub of Kleenex to my brother's house for Thanksgiving because I'm going to be bawling my eyes out when I see the pictures of Toby with his new family.  He is going to be the happiest child in that country on Thanksgiving Day.  Soon Toby. Soon. His family is several thousand short so helping them would definitely help carry some of their load. Please keep the Meyers in your prayers and support them if you can.

Another of our Fabulous Five - Wetherby's family is heading over in December!! This little guy is also going to explode with joy to have a family. I'll never forget watching him come in from outside on a 65 degree day wrapped up like an Eskimo. He was so hot and so miserable under all the snow hats, pants, coats and gloves that he could hardly walk.  Poor little guy couldn't get undressed because he couldn't move his arms so he just fell back on the floor and cried and cried to be rescued.  Well little boy - your family is coming to rescue you!!  They are also several thousand short and would definitely appreciate your support!

Please consider picking one, two or four families and helping them out. All four are close to travel and all four are short on funds. It isn't going to stop them from going but every little bit will help ease their load.  Most of all - PRAY FOR THEM!! Pray for all four of these adoptions.

And please don't forget my boys...

P.S.

My sweet Angel Tree boy Charlie and his best friend Rebecca are slowly climbing the Angel Tree.... I'm so happy to see them doing well. I'd be even happier if someone would step up and adopt them.

The fact that I personally have met Toby and Wetherby and Isaiahu and Ben and Aaron and Stephan and Alex and Micah and Charlie and Rebecca makes all of this very very real to me.  These children are not just pictures on a page.  They are living breathing children who cry, smile, hurt and long in their deepest being to be loved best of all.

All I Can Do

EVERY SINGLE ONE IS OVER HALF-WAY TO THEIR GOAL!!

We started out needing $5,000.00 for their matching grants and we are down to needing $1,214.50.

PRAISE GOD!!

These matching grants end November 30th so please please - if you are able - help me match these grants. I am so grateful every time I see that another box has been removed.  I know everyone is crazy busy right now and I know money is tight and I am not offering big prizes here.  All I can do is ask and pray and try to get these boys seen.

Ben and Isaiahu desperately need families so that they can get the medical care they desperately need. Ben is not going to survive long-term there. Micah ages out in a matter of days and it has just been determined that with his medical issues, he will not survive long unless a family steps up and helps him get the care he needs.  Alex ages out in December.  He is a sweet soul and will bless a family beyond words if someone would just give him a chance. Stephan lives in a world of grey and is oh so lost!! And Aaron... I have yet to share about Aaron but I will.  Aaron just plain needs a Mama to love him.

We still need 121 more people willing to give $10.00 to remove a box of love.

I really really really want to show you the pictures underneath those boxes!!!

--------------------------------------

When we have revealed all four pictures, I am going to give away four professionally done prints from four of the portraits.  Winners will get to choose which portrait they want printed.

I just need 121 people willing to donate $10.00 to remove a box of love.

I am more than willing to take people willing to donate MORE than $10.00 to remove even more boxes.

I'm not picky.

We have $1,214.50 left to raise.

Please give whatever you can and leave me a comment or send me an e-mail (covenantb@yahoo.com) to let me know you gave.  Those who have given already are already in the drawing for the prints.
