Dad's Girl

At Christmas we gave my Dad an envelope with a bit of money in it so that he could pick his Angel Tree child.  He considered carefully which child would get his money.  It was a difficult decision but when I told him that this little one didn't even have a picture for the majority of her time on the Angel Tree he decided that she needed his money.

ZARA
Since then he has often asked about her and grieves that no one has indicated any interest in her.  Since December he has quietly added money to her fund.  We printed off her picture and he has it at his house.  He has been praying daily that God would send a family for her.

I promised him that I would holler for his little girl.

I promised.

I'll be honest.

It was on my to-do list.

But way down on the list.

I've just been too busy.

In the same way that the rest of the world has passed her by... I too put her on the backburner.

There was always more important things to do...

But this morning as I considered what to write, she came to my mind and so I looked at her profile.

And cried.

TODAY IS HER BIRTHDAY.

She turns two.

Two years laying in a crib.

Two solid years without anyone to hold her, kiss her, comfort her, play with her and make her sad little eyes light up with joy.

She has so little going for her.  She is just one more of many hundreds of little girls like her.

Her picture is drab and the look in her eyes does little to make anyone feel drawn to her.

But God raised up my Dad to pray for her and He nudged me today - ON HER BIRTHDAY - to look again at this little lost soul in mismatched clothes - laying so very lonely in her crib.

Forgotten by the world but not by the Creator of the Universe.

So I'm asking - Please take a look at Zara.

Put her out there on your blogs and facebooks.

Add your prayers to my Dad's that God would raise up a family for her.

Let this be the last birthday that she has to spend helpless in that crib.

  4. What country is she in? I have noticed her before...one, for her sweet face, and two, because my middle name is Zara! I am single, so am not able to adopt from just anywhere(which is silly, but not our rules I suppose).

it is a photo of our special girl Luna and since my flickr stream has a discrete visibility (certainly better than my blog....) I added in the description of the photo a link to your blog.
    Hope it is ok!

  8. "If ... thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto Him?
If thou be righteous, what givest thou Him? or what receiveth He of thine hand?
Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man." (Job 35:6-8)

I'll give my support as soon it's possible to me.
