Prayers for Carrington

It just sometimes seems like when it rains... it pours...

Dear Faithful Readers...

Do you remember when we prayed for this little one.. Tori?  Adopted by the Burmans?

Well, overlooked in the furor of Tori's adoption was the other little one that they were also adopting.

Carrington

She was the one whom God whispered into their ears... Get this one too... She needs you.

And they did.

This past week both girls were walked out of their respective orphanages/institutes and entered into their new lives as daughters, sisters, granddaughters and nieces.

It was only when they carried her out and lovingly undressed Carrington for the first time did the Burman's realize that she was seriously hanging on to life by a thread.

Pictures speak louder than words.

Eleven pounds.  At three years of age.

As soon as the Burman's landed in the United States on Thursday night, Carrington was rushed to the hospital and is right being worked on around the clock as she is in a fight for her little life.  No one who has seen her understands how she survived this long apart from God's Grace.  Her body was in shut down when the Burman's brought her out.

Carrington is not the first little one to leave this particular orphanage in this state.  She will not be the last.

Special needs children in Eastern Europe are NOT valued.  Especially children with Down Syndrome.  They are set aside.  They are allowed to waste away.  They are denied homes and families.

That is the truth.

Please pray for Carrington.  Pray that God will breath life into her bones.  Pray that she will be able to take in the nutrients she needs to allow her body to heal.  Pray.

  1. Words just aren't enough... Just not enough...

Does this family have a blog we can follow so that we can keep up to date and know how to continually pray for them??

There just simply aren't words to say how something like this... just no words...

  6. Prayers will be sent to her! Something has to be done; this baby (and others) shouldn't be treated like this.

  7. I am hysterical after seeing and reading this. I KNOW this happens :( Even in not the worse orphanages. I REMEMBER getting off a plane and going into ICU for a battle of my own baby boy who had massive sepsis caused by malnourishment, along with other severe illnesses. I am praying hard for this family. I dont have access to my blogs to no way for me to follow along with them since my computer died. thank goodness I saw a link to here on fb. my heart breaks :(

  11. It is devastating that this happens. Poor sweet little angel- I had seen posts about her on other blogs with a different photo. I just realized that this is the girl listed as Anastasiya that we had prayed for/donated to. I felt so comforted when I knew she had a family...we will pray for her.

  13. No child (or any other person) should ever be put in this position. A person's worth is not determined by their number of chromosomes or their needs. These precious little ones have infinite worth and I am so inspired by each and every one of them. I'm praising the Lord that sweet Carrington has a family so dedicated to her. Trusting that He will heal this angel this side of Heaven.

  14. Thanks Julia. She is terrible shape. Much worse than Theo was. To me it looks more like abuse than neglect. I'm never giving up on these kids.

  22. While it disgusts me and is heartbreaking, I know it to be true. We adopted an 8 year old who came home weighing a mere 40 lbs...which sounds gigantic next to Carrington but is also very small. Our one year old came home weighing 14 lbs and was startlingly thin. But this, what poor Carrington has endured, is a crime. Thank you God for people who hear your voice and step forward to help those in need, even before the true depth of need is evident.

  23. This is what our son Patrick looked like at age 2 years weighing 9 pounds. Hard to understand 8 years later and there are still kids living like this in orphanages. Why I ask myself over and over when there are people wanting these children they end up in this DAMN shape. Thank God a few of them made it out alive... Denise Peddington Davis

  24. I found your blog through a friend on FB. Thank you for making all of us aware of these horrors. My heart is literally breaking and I am crying as I read this post. My prayers are with dear Carrington and the family

  25. I didn't know they didn't realise how malnourished she was. Every time I see this photo my heart shatters all over again and the tears flow. This is such a crime and why don't the "caregivers" get punished for this?! It's pure neglect. Oh, that poor baby... but I am so happy she has her loving family now!!! Prayers are being said! xxxooo

  26. I am crying. I have seen photos like these, but somehow knowing her story a bit makes it all the more real if that makes sense. Once your eyes have seen … our DD weighed just 18 lbs. at 3 when we met her. She was very malnourished but she also had a medical condition that added to this. Still it is hard to forget and more importantly, to forgive those responsible.

Prayers for Carrington and for the others who still wait. So thankful for the family who said Yes to God's call.

Oh, God, we thank You for covering her the past 3 years. Please allow her to experience unconditional love for many years in the arms of her forever family. In Jesus' name, Leslie

  27. There are no words to describe how I feel seeing one of God's most precious gifts being so horribly neglected. But thankfully God now has brought this little cherub into the loving arms of the Burman family, and she finally will receive the loving attention she so desperately needs. God bless that wonderful family - I will be praying for them and sweet
    Carrington.
