Rob and I sat yesterday and we looked at poor Sonny's picture and we wondered to ourselves... WHO WILL CHOOSE HIM?
Who is going to pick Sonny based on that awful picture?
Who is going to see the little boy behind the battered face?
Who?
Our adoption process for Aaron was a bit on the wild side. We traveled across the ocean expecting to bring him home only to be sent home because of a feud going on in the village over seating a jury.
When we came back a month later we were greeted by a little boy who would barely make eye contact with us.
On the second day we were there Aaron showed up looking like someone had beaten his face in. The whole right side of his face was swollen and bruised. He had bruises around his mouth and chin. We did NOT take pictures of him on that day because our focus was on comforting and loving our little lost guy. Even two days later he still looked a bit rough. We had NO idea what happened. The caretakers said nothing and our facilitator had already left. Aaron still bears a scar along his chin from whatever happened to him.
Seriously... If THIS had been his RR picture.. Do you think we would have chosen him?
Would we have seen the precious treasure right there behind that awful picture??
This was taken the day after we passed court. Two weeks later!!
Joy Unspeakable.
OUR SON!
SONNY'S PICTURE IS BAD BUT THE LITTLE BOY BEHIND IS JUST WAITING TO BURST OUT!!
Please see beyond the battered face.
See the treasure waiting inside!
Look for the smile that will light up the world when he realizes he has a Mama and a Papa.
Please!!
SEE SONNY!!!

Hi Julia ~ Thanks for hosting such a great fundraiser! I hope they all find their families very soon! Donated $15 to Alexei and $15 to Dallas who was in last place with $105.90. Also shared on fb. Thanks again, Nicole Voisard
ReplyDeleteI donated 20 to Alexei, 20 to Serenety 15H(she had the lowest amount in her account) 10 to Nastya(11) today. Last week I donated 70 to Alicia. not sure if you will count that or not. but she needs a mom more than I need the 70 for sure. and thanks for all you do for those left behind.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to include my name! Tammy Enberg. but you knew that, anyways I donated 70 to Alicia, 20 to Alexei, 20 to Serenety(lowest fund account), and 10 to Nastya(11). Im not sure I understand the connection to the other giveaway. I didnt donate to sonny, I donated to Alexei does that mean I am not in the drawing for the ipad?
ReplyDeleteI posted on four of my blogs. enbergadventures, allforalicia, aplaceinthesun, and forthoseleftbehind are all at blogspot.com. I also posted on facebook
ReplyDeleteAmy Boroughs: I donated $10 each to Yegor, Alexei, Shannon 2H, Ivan B. 13G, and Alexander (2H).
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm not in a position to adopt right now, but I just thought there may be more people like me. When I look at RR, I fall for the sad children. The ones with eyes that beg for help. Those with rosy cheeks and sunny smiles don't touch me as much (although they are in as much danger). That's just me. If I could adopt, my heart would pick one of the crying kids with a dirty t-shirt. So don't give up! If people understand the need for help, surely they understand that the child may not (at least not immediately) be a sunny poster-child?
ReplyDeleteI may be posting twice--I always have "sign in" issues--but I donated a total of $45--$5.50 to Yegor and $5 to Donovan b/c I was thinking he was one of your listed boys--and $5 to Adele b/c she was the beautiful bottom baby. Then I donated the rest to other discouraged or struggling warriors' babies. I shared twice on fb and yesterday on twitter. Deb Wielhouwer
ReplyDeleteI donated $30 total: $5 each to Yegor and Alexi, bc they are at the bottom of the lost boys tree. There were several children at the "bottom" of the tree, so here's who I chose and why: Jasper, bc children without photos always seem to be passed over, Nash, bc he's obviously not cared for as he should be, and he's in R, which is so expensive. Russell, for the same reasons as Nash (although he looks like he is fed lol!!) and bc he's in the same region as the little one I adore, and Sophia E. bc, well, just look at her. she needs a momma. I love them all, but there's always ones I;m guided to! I am sharing on FB as well!Thank you Julia!
ReplyDeleteChristina Schye

Donated to Lilly/Owen fund through their sponsor
Emmitt (1998) donating to sweet Emmitt because he has Spina Bifida like our olds son, and it breaks my heart that he still waits :(

Entered again, this time $5 each to Alexei and Emmitt ... and hoping to help a few families that are struggling this week with a small donation each.
