Waves of Grief

He was five weeks from being held in loving arms.

FIVE WEEKS.

Sasha is in the arms of Jesus.

We found out last summer that Sasha was a Lost Boy.  I grieved and worried because he was too fragile to be put with the shed boys.  I knew he was headed for the laying down rooms.  I knew.

But he had a family who fell in love with his soulful eyes.  They loved him dearly.  They contacted me last summer and shared their heart.  Together, we began to pray that God would move the mountains that stood before them so that they could go get Sasha out.

At the end of the year the mountains crumbled and they were free to commit.

They named him Jonathan.

He was their beloved little son.

Last week they were submitted which meant that they were five weeks from traveling across the ocean.

FIVE WEEKS.

35 DAYS.

Sasha is no longer suffering.

I know this.

I rest in that knowledge.

But my human heart grieves and my eyes pour tears for a little boy who never experienced, this side of heaven, what love felt like.

This picture was taken at Aaron's institute.  I can see the walls that surround that dreary place.

This picture speaks volumes if you look close enough.

It tells stories that could fill a book.

I'm grieving.

Sasha's family was going to be invited to sit at our table.

Please please pray for them in their grief.

Pray that God's peace and comfort would fill their hearts.

They are grieving the death of a little boy whom they called son.

I am grieving with them.

  3. Oh Julia, I can't believe it but I know it's true. I have been following their blog. I'm so very sad right now. I was hopeful for him to come home with his family. It just reinforces how much we need to raise funds and find families for the other available Lost Boys as quickly as possible.

  8. We just feel so empty. He was so close to his earthly family reunion. We know God has done what is best. We mourn never hugging him this year, we are lost in God's Arms trusting Him to lead us through this sadness. (((HUGS)))
