An Honest Post

Okay - Here's another - "I'll be honest" post.

It's Angel Tree time and all year I have assumed I would be doing something big for the Angel Tree like I did last year.  I didn't know what I would be doing but I was going to do something!   I mean if it hadn't been for the Angel Tree we would not have found Aaron.... Of course I was going to do something!!

But as the time drew closer I realized that I have NOTHING to give this year.  My cup is empty.  Oh I know I could round up prizes because you guys are absolutely generous to a fault and I have already gotten e-mails from people.  It was ME.  My cup.  My energy level.  What I bring to it.  Empty.  I'm exhausted.

So I've been in this mental battle with myself that involved wanting to do something, wanting to do nothing, feeling guilty because I'm not doing anything etc. etc.

Then yesterday a sweet friend who is yelling for Sonny WHO NEEDS SOMEONE TO YELL FOR HIM BECAUSE LOOK AT HIS BEFORE TRANSFER AND AFTER TRANSFER PICTURES...

sonny before    sonny after

Well - she reminded me that unless the Lord builds the house - the labor is in vain.

And peace flooded my heart.  It is OKAY that I don't have anything to give right now.   It is okay because it is the Holy Spirit who moves and directs and right now - I'm in a waiting and resting period.  The Lord will move in my heart when it is time and I don't need to worry about it.  I'm just going to rest and wait.

That doesn't mean I don't care about the Angel Tree because I care deeply.  Some of the children on the Angel Tree have already been transferred BUT MOST HAVE NOT and  I WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!!  Finding families for the young ones is MY DEEPEST DESIRE.  Raising awareness for the wee ones so that they never have to set foot in the mental institute.... Oh Dear Friends....

I check the Angel Tree daily to see how the kids are doing.  I first of all look at Yegor since he is my Angel Tree boy!!  He has $101.50 in his AT account.  Only $898.50 to go!!

Yegor B.

Then I look for Emmitt.  Yes Emmitt is on the Angel Tree.  Praise God!!  GO EMMITT GO!!

He has $283.46 in his AT account.

Emmitt (1998)

And now that Alexei is a Lost Boy I am going to be checking him daily... His AT account is at $140.00

Alexei

Then I start looking at the other babes.... whispering prayers... longing for families.... grieving over all the faces I recognize... babes who have been on RR for years and years...
These are but a few....

Elden 14G Nastya (11) Kristie (2001) Alexander (2H) Frank (2000) Angelia Brett #19-1 Celine (2H) Kolya 15H Alicia Owen 3G Matthias 2H Alexander G 13G Donovan Bobby (50) Kate 26HA Francis (2004)

Oh how could I not care?  Each one a precious treasure. Each with diagnoses that should not define them.  Each one cast away by the world.  Each one worthy of love.

I'm waiting and resting.  But I am not idle.  Prayer matters.  And above all else these kids need prayers.

LET YOUR HEART BE BROKEN.

If you want to enter to win some REALLY COOL PRIZES... go to Stori's blog and enter to win.... All it takes is a 5.00 donation to Sonny.

Crying an Ocean

I admit it.  I am Discouraged. Disheartened.  Dismayed.

I am weary beyond words to see children slip over the wall into the world of Mental Institutes.

I am especially weary when I discover that those children have slipped into Aaron's old institute.

I want to cry out against the injustice.  The wrongness of sending little children into a world where NOTHING awaits them.

I want to cry an ocean for little boys who are forced to leave the safely of their baby houses.  Where they are taken away from all that they have known in their lives.

Oh Alexei..... I am so sorry that you are now a LOST BOY.

I AM SO SORRY!!

I am crying an ocean for you little man.

Crying an Ocean.

The Final Stretch

Only a few more days and this little guy is going to meet his Mama and Papa.

It has been a roller coaster ride for his parents.

They have had to stay a course that has taken so many side roads that hanging on to their hats has been difficult.  When we first yelled for Porter we thought we had more pictures of him and were yelling for him based on pictures that ended up NOT being Porter.

That was a bit gut-wrenching for the Eriksons because after the mistake was realized.. they were left with this one picture and no one ever having seen their little guy.

We also thought Porter was in Aaron's institute.  That fact was based on the information received that Porter  had been sent to Aaron's village.

It NEVER made sense to us why Porter was sent to a stage four mental institute when he was not outwardly physically disabled or mentally disabled.  I agonized over his being sent there and worried that it was going to be a new trend.  It did NOT dawn on us that Porter would have been sent to the OTHER internat in that village.  Why I did not consider that possibility is beyond me because Rob and I SAW that internat.  We KNEW it was there.  Our driver slept there when he needed to stay overnight in the village.  It should have been the FIRST place we thought about when we heard he was transferred but it totally didn't cross our minds.  Few know about that internat and since Aaron was the first child adopted out of the village... well.... nobody put two and two together.

BUT WHEN WE HEARD WE PRAISED GOD!!

Porter is NOT at the mental institute.  We have no real idea what the internat is like because we never went inside so we don't know in what condition he is in.   We do know that ministry teams HAVE been in that internat and are able to minister to the children there.  The Eriksons still have to go to the no-hotel, no-real-restaurant village.  They still are going to be out in the middle of nowhere.  But Porter is NOT at the mental institute.  And I PRAISE GOD for that!!

And they too are rejoicing.

Rejoicing as they get down to the final stretch.  They are leaving in less than two weeks.  They are going to carry pictures of Aaron with them so that they can give them to his old director.  We are PRAYING AND PRAYING SOME MORE that she would be OPEN to adoption for MORE of her boys.  PLEASE PLEASE PRAY that contact would be made and that her heart would be softened.  There are boys there that we KNOW are available but walls have been hit in trying to get their information so we can holler for them.  God is opening some doors already and when I can share I will be screaming at the top of my lungs.  PLEASE PRAY.  I'm praying BOLDLY that the director will allow updated pictures of Heath and Hanson and Sasha to be taken.  PLEASE PRAY!!  Pray boldly with me!!

Pray too that the Eriksons would make inroads at the internat.  Pray that doors would be flung open there too.  God is doing a NEW THING in that village.  Our prayers are NOT in vain.

The Eriksons are in the final stretch and they are still in need of a few thousand to be fully funded.

They have been offered a $1,000 matching grant and still need around $400.00 to have that matched.

Would you consider helping them? My heart is tied up with Porter and his family.  I am going to be weeping as they cross that ocean and venture into that village.  It has been two years yet grief still overwhelms me for the Lost Boys we left behind.  I have such hope for this journey that God is going to move some mighty mountains not only for Porter but for so many other children in that village.

If you feel led - Please drop some money in the Eriksons bucket as they enter this final stretch. They need around $1,800 to be FULLY FUNDED (if they get the 1,000 matching grant) so please... give generously!

AND PRAY... PRAY WITHOUT CEASING!!

Pray Porter Home!

Urgent Prayer Request

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

GOD IS MOUNTAIN MOVING FOR THE MOUNTAIN FAMILY!!

Reagan has an appointment at 7am in the morning at the passport agency and someone is going to meet her and have her out by 8 am.  They will then go and get everything notarized etc. and should be able to fly out tomorrow afternoon.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PRAY THAT NOTHING STANDS IN THEIR WAY!  It sounds like they are not going to be charged extra for this - PRAISE GOD!  It also sounds like there is a good chance she WILL make the original meeting!!

KEEP PRAYING PRAYER WARRIORS!!

Want to be in on a secret??

Here it is...

Adoption is HARD.

It is a gut-wrenching and grueling process.  The roller coaster ride is NOT for the weak kneed.  It requires courage and fortitude and a whole host of prayer warriors standing behind those who are adopting.

Well my dear Prayer Warriors... Strap on your knee pads because there is a family out there who is in desperate need for us to pray.

Here's the story in a nutshell...

A family meets a 15 year old girl last summer who stole their hearts and they decide to adopt her.  She turns 16 at the end of THIS MONTH so they have been on a crash course to get to her before her time runs out.  Their appointment in her country is WEDNESDAY... Two days from now.  The entire family left on Sunday - Mom, Dad (Tom and Reagan Mountain), 4 kids and grandparents - to cross the ocean to bring her home.  It was a joyous and wondrous group that boarded the first plane but tragedy struck when a bag was stolen from their belongings.  This bag didn't contain toothbrushes and snacks.  IT CONTAINED PASSPORTS! Two of the childrens and the Mom's passport.  YOU CAN'T CROSS THE OCEAN WITHOUT A PASSPORT!  You can't adopt without a passport.  You can't go to an appointment on Wednesday without a passport.  Today is Veterans Day.  All government offices are closed.

Do you get the picture??  This is a nightmare that is happening right now for a dear family whose one goal is to bring a daughter into their family.

We need to pray for them. There is hope and God is moving mountains.  They are being given a chance to reschedule their appointment IF they can get the new passport for the Mom along with 3 notarized and apostillized copies of it PLUS a notarized and apostillized copy of the police report.  This stuff needs to happen ASAP.

Please pray that TOMORROW  Reagan Mountain can get the paperwork needed so she can cross that ocean and they can get that girl out.  Please pray for them that peace will reign down on their hearts.

All my dear Prayer Warriors - PLEASE PRAY!!

Please Pray!

Yegor

See this sweet angel?

This is Yegor.  This is his picture from the last year's Angel Tree.

If you were around last year following this crazy blog then you remember Yegor because he was one of our Passed Over Babes.  The Passed Over Babes were the ones who had been on the Angel Tree the longest.

Not a contest worth winning!

This year - Yegor is again on the Angel Tree.  THAT MEANS HE HAS BEEN ON IT THE ABSOLUTE LONGEST.  All the other Passed Over Babes are either too old or have families.

It's just Yegor. This is his picture from this year's Angel Tree.

I've been given the mighty task of raising $1,000.00 for sweet Yegor.

More importantly I've been given the task of raising awareness for him.

IN OTHER WORDS SCREAMING MY GUTS OUT FOR THIS BOY.

Here's what I know about him...  HE HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED.  He was in a baby house that was NOT a great place and most likely he was rarely ever taken out of his crib.  There is a good chance that Yegor has had few opportunities to learn how to walk.  He is in a MENTAL INSTITUTE that is NOT good.  That is what I know.

BREAK. MY. HEART

BUT.... Yegor is in the EASIEST region in his country!!!  Did you read that?? He's in an easy region.  Now... there are NO GUARANTEES when it comes to adoption and just when I say that things should be easy the mountains always start looming but let's believe the best... His region is also the CHEAPEST so that is also good news... and even better... YEGOR ALREADY HAS $9,360.00 in his grant account!! So if he gets his Angel Tree amount raised then he will have over $10,000.00 in his grant account.

COME ON!

Where is Yegor's family??  He has waited far too long.  A few weeks ago I held in my arms several little boys with Down Syndrome who were adopted from across the ocean and let me tell you.. the joy they bring to their families is beyond measure.  Boys are amazing!  I have three.   I should know!

Yegor is going to rock some family's world.

Will you let it be you??

And if you can't adopt him... will you be willing to donate to his grant account?  Drop some money in and help him get to the $1,000.00 wall??

I'm not going to shave my head if he gets there (some crazy Angel Tree Warriors are doing that but count me OUT) but I do promised to scream and shout and praise God.

I'm not giving up on this boy until he gets a family.

Please don't give up on him either.

He's been passed over for far too long!

Take a Trip

Do you want to look inside the world of the mental institutes in Eastern Europe?

Do you want a glimpse inside the walls?

Do you want to meet some of those who are locked away inside?

She had the privilege of traveling across the ocean a year ago in search of one little Lost Boy...

She found him....

Not only did she find him but she discovered a world of other Lost Boys and Girls just waiting to be found.

Precious treasures just waiting for parents to take them home.

Please take the time to read Jane's blog. Take the time to get your heart broken over and over again.

Go meet the men who are just grown up Lost Boys.  Go see inside their buildings.  Go read how a simple bag of toddler toys brought them pleasure.

Please.

Go read.

And let your heart be broken.

And then DO something to help.  Jane is desperately trying to raise money for those who are Lost over there.   She is yelling for all she is worth to help those who can't help themselves.  She is growing hoarse from yelling and sadly - few are responding!!  Please come alongside her.  Please don't just read and look and weep and then walk away.  So many people ask me what they can do to help.  THIS IS HOW YOU CAN HELP!!  She is trying to help raise money for a group home so that some of the boys can get OUT of the mental institute and into a family-like situation.  The vast majority of the children and men at the institute ARE NEVER GOING TO LEAVE.  NEVER.  They will die there.  But there are people who care and who are doing everything they can to give them a better quality of life.  WE CAN HELP THEM DO THIS!

Jane has a chip-in called Running for Kalvino*ka - She is running to raise money for the group home.  Please won't you help her??

GO READ.  GO SEE THE PICTURES.  GO GET YOUR HEART BROKEN.  THEN DO SOMETHING!!  PLEASE!

His Peoples

Can you find our sweet boy?

To say Aaron loves school and all HIS PEOPLES would be putting it mildly!!

These are His Peoples in his 1st grade class... He also spends part of his day in Kindergarten too.

There are 10 more peoples in there he loves dearly....

We are thankful His Peoples love him too.

Monday Morning Weeping

I was blog reading this morning.  Cruising through quickly as I had to get Aaron up soon and my to-do list today is long.

My cruising came to a screeching halt when I hit the Hartman's blog.  She had a video on there.  One I had seen before.  One that I had put on my blog well over a year ago.  One that will forever knit her heart with mine.  Even though I knew the video - I clicked anyway.  I clicked so I could see my boys again.  I clicked out of love and longing for a group of misfits shed-sitters.  I clicked and watched and then Rob came in and sat and we watched it again together.  Our boys.  Our Lost Boys.  All of them precious.  I watched and wept.  Rob sitting quietly beside me.  We sat and watched and remembered.  Remembered our boys.

These are just some of our Lost Boys.  Boys we love.  Boys who are living at Aaron's institute.  Boys who shed-sit every day of their lives.  Most of them unavailable for adoption but some of them are.  I can't tell you which ones because at this point we don't have information to verify if they really are available.  It is my deepest prayer that in the coming weeks the Lord would lift the barrier and we will be able to advocate for MORE of the Lost Boys.  Please pray with me.  Please pray that some of these boys in this video will have hope outside the walls.  Please pray.  God is on the move and the possibility of the barrier being lifted is huge.  Please pray.

And please - keep advocating for the three Lost Boys who are listed.  Heath.  Hanson. Sasha.

    $21,302.00                             $2,629.00                                   $9,232.00

Please see beyond the pictures and see these three as just boys.  Boys who need Mamas.  Boys who need Papas.  Pure and simple.  They are just little boys.

Look at their grant amounts!!  Heath is fully funded except for upfront costs and Sasha has a huge grant.  All three of these boys could be adopted together.

------------------------------

Yesterday I shared An Orphan Tale and immediately left for church.  When I came home I had all kinds of messages in my in-box.  The response to the Feingolds was so overwhelming that they were fully funded and well beyond within 2 hours of my post being written.  People sent me messages expressing their disappointment at not being able to give to them because the need was met so fast!!  Wow!!  The Reece's Rainbow community continues to amaze me over and over again!

THANK YOU FOR FILLING UP THEIR CUP.  THANK YOU FOR BLESSING THEM BEYOND WHAT THEY COULD IMAGINE.

I Thank you!!

Silas thanks you!!

Orion thanks you!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

An Orphan Tale

I have a story to tell.

About two little boys and a family.

It begins with the family.  Just a typical American family.  A Dad.  A Mom.  Three beautiful boys.

Our Boys

They were living their lives just like every other typical American family.  Until the mom stumbled upon a ministry called Reece's Rainbow.

Once your eyes are opened.....

Being the sensitive mom that she is, she struggled to look through the pages and pictures of all the kids.  So she would look for a few minutes and then walk away.  It was too hard.  But God kept pulling her back in.  She toyed with the idea of adopting but would set it aside.  It was ridiculous.  Absurd.  There was no way they could raise that kind of money.  Their house wasn't big enough.  They had a baby.  But time and again God kept tapping.  Reeling.  Opening her eyes and her heart.

Then she saw his face.

Silas.

And her heart broke.  The pieces shattered across the floor.

A tiny little four year old boy completely stole her heart.  She shared him with her husband and for a week they wrestled.  Prayed.  Cried.  Considered.  It was insane.  Crazy.  They didn't have that kind of money.  But they could not walk away.

They jumped.  They took out a loan and started their homestudy.  They moved into a larger house to accomodate Silas' needs.  They started scraping together their pennies.  They waded through the mountains of paperwork.

They were approved for one.  Silas.  But the Holy Spirit tapped and right before they finalized their homestudy they inquired about the possibility of being approved for two.  Their social worker balked.  The paperwork was written up for one.  Their USCIS paperwork would have to be amended.  It would cost more money.  She would have to seek approval from her superior. etc. etc. They stood their ground.  Two.   So the homestudy was amended for another and the family began to pray about a 2nd child.

But the money didn't come pouring in and Silas was priority.  They decided to not worry about the 2nd child and let God lead.  Two weeks before they left they were still $12,000 in the hole.  Worry turned to panic as they considered how they would come up with what they needed to bring Silas home.  Then a gift arrived in the form of $7,500.00.  They praised God and moved forward knowing that they still needed several thousand to be fully funded for Silas but believing that He would provide the rest.  They hoped to continue fundraising as soon as they got their feet firmly planted in country.

So on October 15th they left for Silas' country.  Nervous.  Excited.  Overwhelmed.  They went to their referral appointment believing that all would be well.  But as domestic and international adoptions go... problems arose.  Silas's file had an issue.  At a recent doctor visit, a code had accidentally been changed on his medical records.  Changing that code meant that Silas no longer was on the special needs list of qualified children who could be adopted.  The error was HUGE.  Silas, who had severe CP and absolutely qualified for international adoption was now considered unadoptable until he turned five.  His birthday was at the end of November.  That meant that they would have to wait almost six weeks before they could adopt him.  The only other hope was that the medical record could be fixed but no one knew how long that would take.

Oh My Word.

They sat in shock as they were presented with their options.  Go home and wait.  Stay and pick another child.  Stay and pray Silas' paperwork would be fixed.  Consider this.  Consider that.  They held hands and tried to breathe.  They remembered the file of a little boy they had looked at after being approved for two.  A sweet little boy laying in a chair with pleading eyes.  They asked to see his file since he was in the same orphanage as Silas.

His RR name was Orion and after seeing his file they made the gut wrenching decision to ask for his referral, all the while praying that Silas' paperwork would be fixed.  They left trembling and drained.  Two boys lives now intertwined.  The unknown loomed before them.   But God.  Marking the path before them.  Making a way.   A day after they feared the worst for sweet Silas the sun began to break through the clouds.  Silas' paperwork error could be fixed.  It would take a few days but Silas would be available for adoption.

They traveled to the orphanage with Orion's paper in hand.  Excited to be meeting Orion and sad that they would have to wait a few more days to meet Silas. Wondering how they would choose between the boys.  Believing that God would provide what they needed no matter what.

They listened to the director share information out of Orion's file.

Then sunshine walked into the room in the form of the "most giggly, loud and alive little boy... He laughed and laughed.   We brought him a toy dinosaur. He threw it on the floor and laughed. The director showed off that he can give "five." (Down low )."

It was love at first sight.  No way could they leave that little boy behind.

Orion was sealed forever in their hearts. When he left the room they expected to sign papers for Orion and be off but instead the director pulled another file.  Silas.  They were going to meet him too!!

The words spoken about him broke their hearts.  This was a child desperately in need of hope and help.  They listened to the ominous report with sorrow and grief.

And then Silas was brought in.  Terrified.  Overwhelmed.  The room filled with people all staring at him.  He began to spasm and the caretakers quickly carried him away.  Those in the room asked - Do you want him?  Do you want him?

DO THEY WANT HIM?  THEY TRAVELED ACROSS THE OCEAN FOR HIM!  YES YES YES!!

No way could they ever consider leaving him behind.

Two boys.  Only God.  One full of life and one tiny and malnourished.  One chosen and one an unplanned blessing.  Two brothers.  Two sons.  Two precious treasures.

Silas and Orion

Dear friends,

Many of you recognized Orion's picture.  He was one of the 10 children from the Cultivate Wines contest.  When the Feinlands committed to him they were caught between a rock and a hard place.  What was currently in Orion's grant account would pay for adding him, but they were still going to be about 2,500 short.  Their plans to fundraise pretty much went out the window after they committed to Orion because they were in the awkward position of having to wait to see if Reece's Rainbow would win the contest.  If RR won - their needs would be met and they would have the privilege of giving the money left over to another family in need.  If RR did not win then they would be short 1,500.00.

So they prayed and quietly hoped that their needs would be met.  They had a private Facebook group where they shared the pictures of the boys but they made no mention of their financial needs on the group.  They didn't write on their blog out of fear of troll attack.  They prayed and hoped. Few knew they were actually in country and this child we were fighting for to win the contest was in the arms of the family who wanted him.

On Thursday night they learned that RR did not win and they were now in the hole $1,500.00.

Again, they didn't say anything to anyone.  I was completely unaware of their need but on Friday I saw a notice in a private Facebook group that they had pictures of the boys up.  I LOVE Silas and went right over and asked to be friends with Rachel so I could see that sweet boy's pictures.

Be still my heart!!!

Seeing him in their arms just absolutely brought me to tears.  And seeing Orion was just icing on the cake.

I sent Rachel a private message and asked her pointblank how she was doing.

And that was when I heard their story.

A humble story.  A story from two people who held no malice and who cared only to get two babies out.

And I cried.

Tears of joy and yes, tears of frustration.  We didn't win Cultivate Wines.  We came in 2nd.  And 2nd means that the 10 children from 10 different countries will receive $1,000.00 in their grant accounts and not $5,000.00.  2nd place means that 10 families are going to have to fight for the extra $40,000.00.

I know my God will provide all their needs.

I know that this family is not going to be abandoned.

I know this.

I also know I have a duty to share the need because the Lord laid that deeply on my heart as I prayed throughout Friday night over this family's need.  I am not just asking - I am telling you we need to meet that need.

THEY NEED $1,500.00 TO BE FULLY FUNDED.

They have not felt comfortable asking ANYONE to help them.

I am asking for them.

Fill up their cup, church.  Fill it up.

It is Orphan Sunday today.

These two orphans and this family need us to stand beside them and support them.

They need $1,500.00.

Those who voted and those who did not.  This family crossed the ocean in faith. They went for one and are coming back with two because God intervened.

Now we need to do our part.

Their grant amount needs to read over $11,100.00 for them to be fully funded.

FILL UP THEIR CUP!!

FILL UP THEIR CUP!!
